DON’T DRINK & DRIVE: Here’s how you can avoid drunk driving

DON'T DRINK & DRIVE: Here's how you can avoid drunk driving
Dec 21 2022 Share

Protect yourself and those around you: if you’re drinking, don’t drive. Here are 5 ways how you can avoid drunk driving.

Leave your car keys at home

The first step in avoiding drunk driving is completely eliminating the possibility of actually being able to drive. So if you’re going out for a heavy night this festive season, or any other time, make sure you leave your car keys at home.

Organise drinks at home rather than going out

Organising seasonal celebrations at home eliminates one of the biggest contributors to drunk driving: the need to get from point A to B. While drinking excessively is discouraged, you can feel much safer drinking if you’re actually sleeping in the same place you’re vibing.

Take your friends’ car keys if they’re too drunk

Do not be afraid to do this. Hiding your friends’ keys if they’re too drunk will do nothing except protect them. Sometimes, admitting you’re drunk or unable to drive may be a hard pill to swallow so sometimes you just need someone to do it for you.

Don’t give in to peer pressure

Bad influences exist everywhere. Don’t give in to any claims or suggestions made by wrong people who think driving whilst under the influence of alcohol is okay: book a taxi.

Offer friends to sleep over if they’ve had one too many

Beyond taking care of yourself, take on the responsibility of protecting your friends & family this festive season. If you, or the owner of where you live allows it, offer your friends to sleep over if they’ve had a drink too many.

Remember. Don’t drink and drive.

Dec 21 2022 Share

A large section of the Romeo Romano Garden in Santa Venera has been restored and opened up for use for the public.

Adding around 4,000 square meters to the open space in the urban area, the section was previously inaccessible to the public. The restoration works formed part of the first phase of the restoration project being carried out by GreenServ.

At the inauguration, environment minister Miriam Dalli said that €1.7 million are being invested in the full regeneration of Romeo Romano Garden.

‘This project is another testimony to the government’s vision and its full commitment in creating more open spaces at the heart of our localities. We believe that such projects are improving quality of life in our localities, while offering families new spaces for relaxation and recreation close to their homes and workplace’ she said.

The project included a playground as well as two decking areas. The history of the garden will be sustained alongside the new refurbishment which will also see the planting of new trees.

The restoration of the old gardener’s house will be the second part of the project, WasteServ CEO Richard Bilocca explained.
