Gozo Channel Traffic Anger As Ferry Out Of Service

Gozo Channel Traffic Anger As Ferry Out Of Service
Mar 4 2024 Share

Yesterday’s journey from Gozo to Malta was marked by extensive waiting times for ferry boarding, causing frustration among travellers, some of whom reported waiting over two and a half hours.

The prolonged wait times were mainly due to MV Nikolaos undergoing dry-dock maintenance until March 25th.

PN MP Alex Borg expressed appreciation for the dedication of Gozo Channel workers while strongly criticising the government’s failure to fulfil its promise regarding inter-island service.

Borg took to Facebook to commend the tireless efforts of Gozo Channel employees in compensating for the government’s unfulfilled commitment to provide a reliable fourth ferry service between the islands.

In acknowledging the sentiments expressed by numerous individuals who reached out to him, Borg highlighted the disappointment felt by students, weekday commuters to Malta, visiting families, and weekend travellers.

He attributed the situation to governmental incompetence and empty promises, suggesting that funds allocated for ambiguous construction projects could have been better utilised to improve the ferry service.

Asserting the need for immediate action rather than mere rhetoric, Borg emphasised the demand for accountability and improvement in service delivery.
