The Malta Airport Meteorological Office reported that the month’s average temperature was 13.8°C, ranging between the lowest 8°C and highest 20.5°C. March was also partially windier than usual, with the Met Office reporting an average of 9.6 knots for wind speed over the forecasted 9.4 knots.

Following Friday’s windy weather, Saturday’s weather is expected to have rather strong to strong winds (F5-6) with a chance of rain towards the morning and partially cloudy weather during the afternoon.

Such strong winds normally affect travel around the island, and with winds reportedly reaching up to 40 km/h, it is expected for the Gozo Channel to alter its normal operating service. Access between Malta and Gozo is already restricted due to COVID-19 restrictions, allowing only those who have work responsibilities or residences on the island to travel.
