Boris Johnson promises lockdown will end on the 2nd of December

Mr Johnson expalined in a Cabinet meeting today that Britain will inevitably “see losses running in the thousands” without the four week lockdown, but there is a “light ahead” for Britain. 

“We don’t want to do anything to repress democracy, we don’t want to do anything to hurt our economy, we don’t want to stop business from thriving.” But the lockdown could stretch past December 2 and even into Christmas as concerns rose, and Mr. Johnson vowed to keep it for just the four weeks.

14 COVID-19 positive patients are currently on a ventilator

Health Minister Chris Fearne said on Tuesday that there are 14 COVID-19 patients currently getting breathing support via a ventilator. 

In response to a parliamentary query by independent MP Godfrey Farrugia, Fearne said that a total of 33 COVID-19 patients had to be placed on the ventilator since the beginning of the pandemic. Almost half-14 patients-are still currently on the device.

As England prepares for lockdown, panic buyers strip shelves

Social media users have posted photos of empty shelves where toilet roll, pasta, vegetables and meat would normally be, despite supermarkets claiming that there are no stock shortages. 

As England enters a further strict coronavirus lockdown, all non-essential shops will shut from Thursday. However, grocery stores, supermarkets, garden centres and some other retailers that supply essential products and services can remain open.
