Jerry Ghigo, a resident of Mqabba, appeared in court on Monday before Magistrate Charmaine Galea, facing several charges including assault, threatening and insulting police, refusing to obey lawful orders, public drunkenness, and damaging police property — including a police motorcycle and an officer’s uniform.
According to prosecuting officer Inspector Andrew Agius Bonello, Police Sergeant Luke Grima was driving in the direction of Ta’ Kandja when he encountered a truck carrying fans celebrating the team’s success. It was during this encounter that the alleged assault took place.
Ghigo pleaded not guilty to all charges.
