Young champion Kruiven Farrugia found a way to help local ALS activist Bjorn Formosa by running a 5k marathon to raise funds for the homes Formosa runs to help those in need.

He went on to run the race alongside his mother Charmaine and Bjorn’s wife Maria, completing the run in a total of 22 minutes. His efforts were immensely praised by Bjorn, as the young boy has managed to raise €3,863 out of his €5,000 target.

Farrugia is running to raise funds for Dar Bjorn Respite, which is a planned extension of Dar Bjorn, a community home for patients with ALS, MS and other neurological conditions. These are all run by Formosa’s foundation ALS Malta+.

On the day of the run, Bjorn wrote: Today I woke up with immense joy! The day has arrived for Kruiven!’ He went on to explain how he raised 40% of his goal and people can donate to help him achieve even more. Well done lad!

WATCH: Civil Protection Malta tend to fires all across the island

Civil Protection Malta tend to fires all across the island
Jun 5 2022 Share

Civil Protection Malta had a busy day yesterday as multiple fires were reported across both Malta and Gozo, primarily due to the explosion in Mosta at the 15th August fireworks factory.

In Mgarr, Gozo, a grass fire was set off primarily due to severe heat as the island enters its first heatwave of the summer season.

One of our followers has also sent us footage of a fire which broke out at the Swatar Park in Msida, probably also caused by the first heatwave of the season. The Civil Protection was quick to converge onto the scene to control the fires.

Well done to all those involved for keeping everyone safe.
