Man grievously injured during a fight in St Paul’s Bay

A 40-year-old male was grievously injured last night around 11:30 PM.

The police were informed that a man was lying injured on the ground at Xtut Street. When they arrived, however, the man had already been taken to the Mosta healthcare centre.

The man was later taken to Mater Dei Hospital with certified grievous injuries.

Clash of the titans: McGregor takes on Poirier tonight in huge UFC event

Saturday night will be a good night for combat sports with UFC 257 set to be a massive card with Dustin Poirier versus Conor McGregor 2 at the top of the card.

The marks McGregor’s return to the ring after talks of retirement, with his last fight being against Donald Cerrone back in January 2020, where he won via technical knockout 40 seconds in.

The card will also feature Dan Hooker’s bout against former Bellator champion Michael Chandler in his Octagon debut, amongst others.

119 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 211 recoveries

Malta has registered 119 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,571 swab tests, while 211 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Friday 22nd January 2021, 17,767 vaccine doses were administered.

To date, Malta has registered 16,541 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 13,646 have recovered, 250 died and 2,646 are still active.

Prof. Charmaine Gauci receives COVID-19 vaccine

Superintendent for Public Health Professor Charmaine Gauci received the COVID-19 on Saturday, which was streamed live on the Health Ministry’s Facebook page, saħħa.

The video ended immediately after, without any of the usual discourse from authorities, with today’s regular daily COVID-19 update to be posted at 12:30.

Health authorities are currently vaccinating doctors who do not work directly with COVID-19 patients, with Professor Gauci falling under this category and thus, receiving it today.
