A 46-year-old man bled to death in Qawra earlier this morning after a failed attempt at robbing an establishment in Triq il-Qawra.

The police were notified of the case at around 4:30am this morning after the establishment’s alarm went off, with a person most likely inside. District officials went on site immediately, discovering the shattered glass door and a trail of blood outside the establishment.

After following the trail, the police reportedly found the man face down in a pool of blood, with first investigations indicating that it was the same person who entered the establishment. Żejtun’s Beland society break national record with first solar-powered & recycled float

Żejtun's Beland society break national record with first solar-powered & recycled float

During last week’s grand feast celebrations at St. Catherine’s feast in Zejtun, the volunteers at the Beland Musical Society registered a national record with a mechanised float, the first of its kind to operate on solar energy.

With the aim of raising awareness on the environmental impact of village feast, the members of Zejtun’s Beland created the mechanised system, which operates via hydraulics and is made almost completely out of recycled material from previous feasts.

A rechargeable solar battery, which was also repurposed, takes the place of an Internal Combustion Engine. The art piece attempts to symbolise the Beland Band’s journey beyond our shores in the past 30 years.

Congratulations Beland!
