Man Arrested After Assaulting Officers In Sliema Police Station

A 39 year old Maltese man is being kept under arrest after reportedly assaulting police at the Sliema station.

The incident took place when police were talking with a relative of the person in regards to dangerous driving.

The 39 year old entered the police station and started to raise his voice and banging on the perspex.

Despite warnings to calm down, the man reportedly became more aggressive with the officers.

Ignoring orders, the man pushed an officer into a wall and became aggressive. He began to resist arrest, with an officer suffering grievous injuries and breaking his arm. Two other officers suffered light injuries.

The man is being kept under arrest and is expected to be taken to court. An inquiry has been opened.

Transport Malta announced earlier this week that two clean-energy super yachts entered Maltese ports flying the country’s red and white.

The super-yachts, named ‘Ilma’ and ‘Evrima’ form part of a broader move towards sustainability in the maritime industry by creating vessels that do not pollute as they operate.
