Judy Craymer, producer of Mamma Mia!, has confirmed that a third instalment is in the works. While focused on her new talent show, “Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream,” Craymer assured fans that the third movie is a priority.
Universal Studios is on board, and Craymer has a storyline in mind. The key hurdle is getting approval from ABBA’s Bjorn and Benny, who require some convincing. Despite this, Craymer is optimistic about the project’s realisation.
Craymer intends to bring back Meryl Streep as Donna Sheridan for the third film, which is still in its early stages. She believes there’s a compelling story for a trilogy and thinks Streep would return if the script meets her expectations, as she deeply enjoyed portraying Donna.
Craymer envisions the potential third movie as a part of a second 25-year celebration, following the success of the television show.
In essence, Judy Craymer is confident that Mamma Mia! 3 will come to fruition, with Universal Studios backing the project. While there’s a need to persuade ABBA’s members, Craymer is optimistic. She also plans to bring Meryl Streep back into the fold, emphasising the importance of a compelling script for her return. The potential film is viewed as a continuation of the franchise’s success.
