Throughout last season, and even before that, the young midfielder has had various trials with many European clubs such as Portuguese teams Boavista, SC Braga and fellow Italian teams AC Monza and AS Roma.

These past couple of weeks have been very good for Caruana as, just last week, he made his Champions League debut for boyhood club Hibernians. He came on in the dying minutes of the game as the Paolites were unfortunately losing 3-0. Last season also saw him make his BOV Premier League debut in Hibernian’s final match against Gżira United.

His outstanding talents have also been noted by Maltese national coach Devis Mangia who has invited the dynamic midfielder to training sessions with the senior team on numerous occasions.

Heatwave could cause your dog to suffer from heatstroke

Jul 13 2022 Share

As Malta experiences one of the hottest summers in history, with heatwave after heatwave, dog experts have reminded owners of the dangers that heatstroke can present to their furry companions.

Temperatures are set to hit 33°C and this means that taking out your dog for a walk or even a swim to a local beach can expose it to this deadly condition. Alan Grixti, who presented a petition to increase the number of dog friendly beaches in Malta to parliament, has also recommended that dogs be taken to the beach before 9am to avoid the worst hours of sunlight.

A spokesperson from the Kennel Store, one of the UK’s largest dog housing store, also said that “Heatstroke is a serious illness in which a dog begins to overheat and isn’t able to effectively lower its temperature,”.

A dog’s natural body temperature is normally around 38.6°C and if that temperature increases and the dog begins to overheat, they are in serious danger of becoming unwell. Symptoms of heatstroke may include panting, weakness, collapsing, confusion, vomiting and diarrhoea which may include blood, seizures and death.

Kennel Store also advised the public to make sure that an area of shade is always available to your dog and that if any of the symptoms are present in your dog’s day to day life to contact a vet as quickly as possible.
