Telecommunications company GO has issued a warning to Maltese citizens regarding scammers which have transitioned from scam text messages in English to calls in Maltese with individuals claiming to be Enemalta officials.
The company has reported receiving around four calls of individuals calling for the immediate settlement of a pending bill, going on to threaten to cut the power supply of the people on the receiving end.
The police has been notified of the situation, with Enemalta noting that the company only communicates with clients via freephone 8007 2224 and appealing to clients to remain vigilant in the face of such scams.
For privacy & security reasons, it is of utmost importance to never reveal personal information or bank details whilst on the phone.
