Rising Maltese singer-songwriter Gilbert Gauci has achieved a significant milestone with his latest song being featured on CBS’s renowned daytime drama, The Young and the Restless. With millions of viewers across the U.S. and over 30 other countries, this global exposure represents a major moment in Gilbert’s career.

The featured track, titled “Pull Me Closer,” has thrilled Gilbert, who shared his enthusiasm by saying, “I still feel like I’m dreaming. Growing up watching soap operas, it has always been a dream of mine to have a song featured on one of America’s biggest television networks. I can’t stop rewatching the scene and smiling. I’m over the moon.”

Gilbert’s recent success is part of a broader wave of accomplishments. Last March, he temporarily moved to northern Sweden to study songwriting, and within just a month, he was invited to collaborate on Lidl Finland’s summer campaign.

This is yet another example of a local musician making strides in not only the national music scene but also the international one.

Sep 19 2024 Share

Infrastructure Malta has unveiled an exciting new initiative called “Vjal Kulħadd,” designed to enhance pedestrian and cyclist-friendly roads and squares across the region.

This scheme, backed by a substantial €10 million investment, aims to promote sustainable transportation and improve mobility within various local communities.

“Vjal Kulħadd” is set to encourage local councils and NGOs to put forward innovative proposals that will enhance road accessibility, safety, and environmental sustainability, ultimately benefiting residents in numerous localities.

Transport Minister Chris Bonett, who introduced and inaugurated the scheme, emphasized the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure for future generations. He stated, “As a government, it is our obligation to provide the best infrastructure so that the next generation can live in a better environment than we found.”

The Minister further highlighted the importance of reducing car usage, noting, “It’s time to reduce car usage, but to do so, we must provide the necessary infrastructure—and ‘Vjal Kulħadd’ will do just that.”

Steve Ellul, CEO of Infrastructure Malta, echoed this sentiment, affirming the organization’s dedication to supporting new and sustainable transportation solutions. He emphasized that the initiative seeks to make walking and biking more common and accessible modes of transport.

The “Vjal Kulħadd” initiative will be open for submissions for six weeks, with local councils invited to present their proposals by October 30, 2024.
