Maltese Racer Duncan Micallef Sets New European Record

Duncan Micallef has made his name known yet again, this time setting a new European speed record at the Scandinavian Internationals at the Tierp Arena which is considered as an official round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship.

The Maltese racer managed to produce another world beating performance as he continues on trying to capture his second ever FIA European Drag Racing Championship crown.

Micallef surged to pole position with an incredible record breaking time of 3.79 seconds, reaching an astonishing speed of 321.4 miles per hour.

His performance surpassed the previous European record of 321.01 mph, set by Finland’s Ida Zetterstrom.

Duncan Micallef’s final time of 3.79 second was also 0.10 seconds faster than the previous European record held by Zetterstom.

Micallef who is also the head of the Malta Motorsport Federation was also recently elected chair of FIA’s Drag Racing Commission, highlighting not only his skills but his knowledge and experience of drag racing.

Abel, JD And Martina Dedicates Billboard To Thank Fans

The legendary radio trio Abel, JD and Martina have yet again showed their appreciation to their countless supporting fans by this time dedicating an entire billboard.

The billboard features the faces and names of the three people Malta has got to know and love over the past ten years and a massive “Thank You Malta” as the trio’s journey as the hosts of 2The Morning Vibe” came to an end.

Their departure was announced on the show only a week ago with Vibe FM stating that the radio station and the trio could not find a way forward due to the station’s decision to make some scheduling changes.

Their planned last ever live show which was supposed to air on Friday morning unfortunately did not take place due to unknown reasons but many are sure that this won’t be the last time Malta sees the trio all together.

First Trailer For Mufasa: The Lion King Released

The highly anticipated trailer for “Mufasa: The Lion King,” a prequel to the beloved classic, has finally debuted at Disney’s largest convention, D23.

The trailer features a young Mufasa and Taka (Scar) exploring the stunning African plains, as the story of how the orphaned Mufasa rose to become king over his adopted brother Scar is recounted to Simba, Timon, and Pumba in the future.

The film is directed by Barry Jenkins, who shared with fans at D23, “Like all of you, ‘The Lion King’ made an indelible mark on me.”

Jenkins also revealed that musical theatre icon Lin-Manuel Miranda will compose the film’s original songs.

Aaron Pierre and Kelvin Harrison Jr. star as the younger versions of Mufasa (originally voiced by James Earl Jones in the 1994 film and 2019 remake) and Scar (voiced by Jeremy Irons in 1994 and Chiwetel Ejiofor in 2019).

“Mufasa: The Lion King” is set to roar into theaters on Dec. 20.

Plane Crash In Brazil Kills All 61 On Board

A passenger plane has crashed in the Brazilian state of  São Paulo, tragically killing all 61 passengers and staff on board.

According to Voepass airline, a twin-engine turboprop was en route from Cascavel in Paraná, a southern state, to Guarulhos Airport in São Paulo city when it crashed in the town of Vinhedo.

There has also been footage going around social media showing the plane spiraling from the air, descending vertically.

The ATR 72-500 was carrying 57 passengers and four crew with local authorities stating that there was no survivors.

Brazil’s President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, expressed solidarity with the families and friends of the victims.

São Paulo’s state Governor, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, declared three days of mourning.

The plane also reportedly landed in a residential area, though officials have stated that only one home in a  local condominium complex was damaged.

Brazil’s civil aviation agency said the plane, which was built in 2010, had been “in good operating condition, with valid registration and airworthiness certificates”.
