22-year-old Shaun Dimech has officially signed with Bosnian champions Borac Banja Luka. This signing marks a new chapter in Dimech’s career, as he leaves Valletta Football Club, where he has spent his entire professional journey to date.
The announcement came on Wednesday evening after successful contract negotiations between Dimech and Borac Banja Luka, kickstarting the Maltese player’s journey in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s top football division.
Dimech has already joined his new team, departing for Slovenia where Borac Banja Luka is undergoing an intensive training camp at Terme Zreče. The team, under the guidance of coach Mladen Žižović, is preparing for the upcoming 2024/25 season, including their participation in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
This transition is particularly notable as Borac Banja Luka is set to compete in the same qualification round as Malta’s own champions, Ħamrun Spartans. While there was a chance that these two teams could face each other in the first round, Borac Banja Luka will instead be playing against Albania’s KF Egnatia.
Fans and well-wishers are excited to see how he will perform with Borac Banja Luka in their quest for European gold.
Good luck Shaun!
