The Health Ministry revealed on Monday that travellers to Malta with no vaccination against COVID-19 will no longer need a negative PCR or rapid test result.

The latest of the rules to be lifted, they will come into effect on the 25th of July and are based on the recommendations made at the EU level.

This follows travellers who did not have COVID-19 vaccination certificates or a recent recovery certificate having been required to present negative PCR or rapid tests upon arrival to Malta.

Apart from this, the Health Ministry revealed that all people aged over 60 will be offered a second COVID-19 booster dose if they so whs.

The ECDC is recommending, based on the current increase in virus cases across Europe, that immunosuppressed people and those aged over 60 to receive a second booster shot. This is especially the case if they received their first booster more than four months ago.

The ECDC recommendation says that, despite the clear advantages which come with a second booster shot to vulnerable groups of people, there was no need to offer the shot to younger people.
