Filmed by Alex Camilleri, a Maltese writer, producer and editor born in America, ‘Luzzu’ found incredible success at the Sundance Festival. Recent news has revealed that an American film distributor, Kino Lorber, has acquired the rights to distribute the film across cinemas in North America. Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a whopping 100%, with actor Jesmark Scicluna winning a Special Jury Award for his role.

Following the tale of two real fishermen, it depicts the struggles faced by the fishing industry as the modern age looms overhead. The fishermen have no choice but to turn to the black market for sustenance.
