After a stellar performance throughout the weekend during Muzika Muzika, Maltese musicians might be getting the exposure on the island they deserve as a quota is in the works for Maltese radio. With a 15% minimum quota, the National Cultural Policy 2021 plans to include songs in Maltese and any music written, performed or composed by Maltese citizens.

Similar quotas are already a reality in other countries and Maltese artists might be getting the recognition in the same way. This might change the local game for many artists, building up their platform and the possibility of further work. We will have to see the quota in effect but nevertheless it is still a big step towards artistic recognition.
