An English-language adaptation of the hit series Squid Game is reportedly in development, with acclaimed director David Fincher at the helm. Known for cinematic masterpieces such as Fight Club, Seven, and Gone Girl, Fincher is poised to bring his unique vision to this anticipated project, set to debut on Netflix in 2025.

Fincher, who has an established relationship with Netflix through acclaimed series like House of Cards and Mindhunter, is expected to set this adaptation in the United States. Sources indicate that it will be a TV series, distinct from the original Korean series but likely to carry the same thrilling, high-stakes intensity that captivated global audiences. This adaptation would be the first scripted spinoff in the Squid Game universe, following the reality-based Squid Game: The Challenge.

While Fincher’s version is in early stages, fans of the original won’t have to wait long for new Squid Game content. The Korean-language series returns for its second season on December 26, with a planned third and final season already confirmed. Fincher’s adaptation is set to expand the universe further, bringing a fresh perspective to one of Netflix’s most successful franchises.
