FKNK President claps back at PN MP who suggested spring hunting debate should be restarted

FKNK President claps back at PN MP who suggested spring hunting debate should be restarted
Nov 7 2022 Share

President of the Federation for Hunting & Conservation (FKNK) Lucas Micallef has clapped back at statements made by new PN MP Albert Buttigieg after the politician stated that “debate on whether spring hunting is allowed should be restarted.”

In a lengthy Facebook post published on Monday, Micallef criticised Buttigieg for making such claims, arguing that they are contradictory. The FKNK president pointed out contradiction in the fact that while Buttigieg stated he has nothing against hunters, he cannot understand why the do what they do.

A person which does not understand the practice, but imposes and practices a culture of cancellation.”

“We are seeing things, from a number of people who practice a system of mediocrity, which show that the majority of people who speak on hunting and conservation in particular do not recognise or understand the fundamental aspects of this way of life. A person which does not understand the practice, but imposes and practices a culture of cancellation.”

Micallef stated that he does not expect a democratically-elected person to disrespect the democratic decision of a referendum.

This comments come in light of Buttigieg’s recent comments on a Times of Malta interview, where he stated that politicians should be free to carry out whatever is in the interest of the common good.
