In Kosovo, the women’s team faced Norway, the pre-tournament favourites, in the FIBA Women’s European Championship for Small Countries 2024 final.

Malta initially led, winning the first quarter 19-17 and extending their lead to 29-24 by halftime, thanks to Josephina Diaby’s efforts. However, Norway’s strong third quarter, with a 22-10 score, shifted the game’s momentum, leading to a 61-54 victory.

Amber Melgoza scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Malta, while Steffi De Martino added 12 points. Aurora Sorbye led Norway with 14 points.

In the men’s tournament, Malta faced hosts Andorra in a closely contested final in La Vella. After a tight first half, Malta led 39-35 at halftime, with significant contributions from David Bugeja.

The game remained close, with the lead changing multiple times in the final quarter. Andorra managed to pull ahead with two three-pointers, securing an 84-79 win. Bugeja scored 22 points for Malta, while Michael Sjoberg had 10 rebounds. Andorra’s Bruno Bartolome was the top scorer with 24 points.
