Local star and new Malta’s Got Talent host Gianni Zammit is officially celebrating his 50th birthday today. The charismatic Maltese icon took to social media to state that he has officially and proudly joined a new club today: ‘the 50’s club.’

Gianni was born on the 18th of August of 1972, and has been a familiar face on Maltese television for a good chunk of his adult career. He has also been part of events such as Rockestra, given his avid passion for music.

Known for being a massive fan of massive rock band KISS, he is often glimpsed wielding one of his many guitars. He will be taking his love for art and performance to the second season of Malta’s Got Talent as he replaces Gordon Bonello, who has been promoted to the seat of judge for this next edition.

Police urge against announcing household is on holiday on social media

Police urge against announcing household is on holiday on social media
Aug 18 2022 Share

The Malta Police Force issued out a advisory post on social media to warn against announcing that a household is completely unattended as all its occupants are abroad or on holiday.

The post asked whether people would leave a physical note on the door of a house, stating ‘House Unattended. All the family is off for a holiday.’ If not, the police asked whether it would then make sense to announce it via social media.

‘Do not make it easier for criminals’ they said. ‘While physically securing your home is extremely important, one can also take certain social measures for security.’

The post, whilst not intending to keep people from sharing lovely memories being made whilst abroad, could inspire travellers to be a bit more careful about how and when to share holiday photos. This could be as easy as not revealing how many of the household are actually abroad, or posting images after one has returned.

Avoid spending more than five minutes on the toilet warn experts

Avoid spending more than five minutes on the toilet warn experts
Aug 18 2022 Share

This might come as a bit of a disappointment to some, but experts have warned that spending more than five minutes sitting on the toilet, could have serious consequences.

A lot of people spend their time on the toilet not actually, well, addressing their bodily duties. Many spend their time on the loo scrolling through their phone or simply to slack off from doing chores.

And even though being on the toilet may be one of the few moments of privacy, experts are now warning against spending a lot of time on the throne as it could have physical consequences.

According to the Mayo Clinic, sitting for a long time on the toilet or really having to strain yourself to force something out can cause haemorrhoids, which can be intensely painful.

In layman’s terms, all the pressure from sitting can pile up onto veins around your bottom, causing a number of health problems. Though some can be cleared given time, others can be more serious and require medical assistance.

Doctors urge people to maintain a high fibre diet to reduce the effort one has to make whilst on the toilet. And if you’re just sitting there killing time, reading this post, it might be a good idea to stand up and try again later.
