This morning’s visit by the Deputy Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for Cabinet Affairs on Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, H.E. Abdulla Nasser Lootah, and his delegation to Malta is a clear indication of the growing collaboration between the two countries. The visit follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the UAE and Malta for cooperation in research and innovation last February.
The Maltese Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation, Keith Azzopardi Tanti, noted that the UAE’s strong interest in collaborating with Malta is a testament to the Maltese government’s wise leadership. He added that the UAE’s economic progress in recent years, particularly in research and innovation, presents great opportunities for Malta’s industry and economy.
On his part, H.E. Abdulla Nasser Lootah praised Malta’s efficient handling of the pandemic and the country’s rapid economic recovery. He noted that the UAE is willing to share its knowledge in areas where it excels and receive Maltese assistance in areas that are beneficial to Malta’s economy, such as aviation, maritime, and gaming.
The growing partnership between the UAE and Malta is a welcome development that can bring mutual benefits to both countries. Collaboration in research and innovation, as well as in other sectors, can lead to the creation of new opportunities for economic growth and job creation.
