Jordan Azzopardi, known as El Chapo of Malta, has received a 7 month jail sentence after having been found guilty for beating up a man and leaving him naked out in the street.

The 32-year-old from Iklin was accused of threatening a man and a woman back in June 2015, causing the man grievous injuries.

He initially plead not guilty when he was arraigned in Court. However, after police presented their evidence and he was arraigned, he chose to plead guilty.

Magistrate Nadine Lia pointed out that Azzopardi did not express remorse for his behaviour, having never apologised to his victims and never compensated for the damage he caused. She noted how he pleaded guilty only when the case was almost finished after 33 sittings.

She pointed out how this was not a fight between friends but was ‘premeditated and planned on a person whom they sought out and beat up in the street in public view. In fact he ended up naked in the street.’

It was also revealed that there was an attempt to drag the victim into a car where the accused was for further beatings but the man managed to escape. The victim had to recover in hospital due to have broken bones and grievous injures.

Napoli edge out Milan in close contest

Dec 20 2021 Share

Napoli edged out AC Milan in what was an important match for their title ambitions. Both teams started the season in incredible fashion, but recently their form has started to dip with Milan drawing against Udinese and losing against Fiorentina and Sassuolo whilst Napoli losing two games on the bounce against Empoli and Atalanta.

Napoli started in the best possible way, as in the fifth minute midfielder Elif Elmas scored a beautiful header from a corner. Both teams had to start with rotated sides because of multiple injuries. AC Milan had many chances to equalize but they couldn’t convert any chances, with star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic not being clinical enough. The first half ended with AC Milan still hoping for an equalizer whilst Napoli wanting to increase their lead.

The second half didn’t start well for Napoli as they looked fatigued and chances were now scarce whilst the rossoneri were playing better but still were not creating clear cut chances. The game got lively again in the 89th minute when Milan player Franck Kessie scored a birthday goal to equalize. However the goal would not stand after a VAR check from the referee concluded that striker Olivier Giroud was considered to be in an active offside position.
