Crowds call for democracy in largest protest Myanmar has seen

Feb 6 2021 Share

Hundreds of people gathered in Yangon, Myanmar to protest the country’s military coup, criticising their military dictator and calling for democracy.

Protests against the military coup arose despite Telenor, one of Myanmar’s biggest telecommunication providers, being ordered to shut down access to social media ‘for the sake of stability’.

The crowds are calling for the release of their elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi after he, with many others, was detained by the army and is currently under house arrest.
