Eurostat has shown that Maltese national parliament has the lowest percentage of women, with only 13% if MPs in Malta in 2020. The share contrasts with the amount of women MPs in European Union, which averages at 33%. This makes 1 in 3 MPs women on average in EU. Malta shares this percentage with Hungary.
Maltese lack of women MPs is also present in national government with only 8% in positions of senior and junior ministers. Greece and Estonia also have a low share in government, with the highest being Finland with a 55% representation.
