Malta With Highest EU Greenhouse Gas Emission Increases

According to new data published by Eurostat, Malta had the largest increases in greenhouse gas emissions out of EU countries in Q4 of 2023 when compared to 2022’s same quarter.

Malta registered a 7.7% increase, with Slovenia and Cyprus following at 5.6% and 2.3% respectively.

The largest decreases were registered in Estonia at 23%, followed by Bulgaria and Finland at 17% and 9% respectively.

EU economy greenhouse gas emissions were registered to have decreased by 4.0% in Q4 2023.

EU economy greenhouse gas emissions were estimated at 897 million tonnes of CO2-equivalents in Q4 2023, -4.0% compared with Q4 2022.

The Labour Party European Parliament candidates have filmed a reality tv style show ahead of the European Parliament elections titled ‘Il-Kamp Politiku’ (The Political Camp).

The nine Labour MEP candidates spent a weekend together in a hotel room suite, with the experience being filmed and to be aired on ONE starting May 27th.

The first teaser shows them dining together as well as getting ready for some possible challenges together.

Taking to Facebook, Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef shared the spontaneous greeting former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat was given in Mellieħa yesterday evening.

The former Labour leader, who is expected to appear in court soon, was greeted by a large crowed who cheered him on.

‘The more they hate him, the stronger the love’, wrote Micallef. ‘The more they strike him down, the stronger he gets. Everything in its time and with calmness.’

Shots Fired At Qormi Show Room: No One Injured

According to a report by ONE News, gunshots took place at around 0200hrs in Triq l-Imdina, Ħal Qormi.

Various sections of the Malta Police Force, including Forensics, convened on site to determine what led to the shooting.

ONE News reported that a garage door on the street had various gunshot marks. A vehicle, a Land Rover, was reportedly towed off due to having been struck by bullets.

No one was reported injured in the incident. An inquiry has been opened as police continue their investigations.
