Malta U-15 Secure 3-0 Win Against Gibraltar

Malta kicked off the UEFA Boys U15 Development Tournament with an impressive 3-0 win over Gibraltar, showcasing a dominant performance.

The game began with Malta taking early control, creating chances from the start. Fionn Dullard opened the scoring 20 minutes in after a loose pass from Gibraltar, giving Malta a deserved lead.

The team continued to pressure, with Lukas Wright missing several close opportunities before finally doubling the score just before halftime, thanks to a neat finish after a cross from Giorgio Cristauro.

Malta maintained their dominance in the second half, with Nicholas Busuttil adding a third goal from a free-kick in the 55th minute. Despite several substitutions, Malta’s control never waned, and they had additional chances to increase their lead.

Kenzil Vella missed a golden opportunity to make it 4-0, but Malta comfortably held on for the 3-0 victory. They now look forward to their next match against Estonia on October 3rd.

KSI, 31, known for his massive online following and recent ventures into music and boxing, will be filling in for regular judge Bruno Tonioli, who is heading to the US to join the panel of Dancing with the Stars. KSI will take the judge’s seat for three out of five days during the first round of BGT auditions this month.

The show’s producers are eager to tap into KSI’s reach of 80 million followers, many of whom are young and tech-savvy – a key demographic for the globally popular talent show. A TV insider commented, “KSI’s influence is expected to draw in a younger audience, boosting the show’s online presence and engagement.” BGT clips have garnered an astounding 24 billion views worldwide, while KSI’s music alone has been streamed 2.7 billion times.

KSI shared his excitement, saying, “I’m thrilled to be a guest judge on BGT. I’ve always loved watching the show, and I can’t wait to see the fresh new talent.”

Josie Vella, the father of late sport ambassador Jake Vella, recently had an image of his son tattooed to his side.

Trusting Etienne Buttigieg, a.k.a Tetinu Tattoo, with the art piece, Josie took to social media to reveal it.

‘Now you won’t escape me Jake Vella because we’ll be together forever’, wrote Josie.

The tattoo has the name, birth and passing date as well as Jake’s last few words: ‘thank you ma, thank you dad’ as part of the art.

This follows friend of Jake, Fabio Spiteri, also getting a tattoo of Jake himself.

Restoration of Valletta’s Jesuit Church Nears Completion

Prime Minister Robert Abela highlighted the need to protect Maltese heritage during a visit to the Jesuit Church in Valletta, which is undergoing major restoration. He stressed that preserving heritage goes beyond repairs, focusing on encouraging the public to engage with it. Abela said these efforts are crucial to ensuring future generations can continue to enjoy Malta’s identity.

Joined by Heritage Minister Owen Bonnici and Rev. Dr. Nicholas Doublet, Abela pointed to government initiatives like passports for children and seniors that have boosted visits to historical sites, with 56,000 people taking part. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to increasing investment in conservation, with support also coming from private entities such as the HSBC Malta Foundation.

The restoration project includes work on the church’s walls, roof, altar, and decorative elements, as well as improvements to electrical systems and stonework. Abela thanked the workers for their dedication and said investing in Malta’s cultural heritage remains a priority for the government, ensuring these sites are preserved for future generations.
