Malta Tourism Authority clarifies billing student rumours

Following articles posted on social media, an official statement by the Malta Tourism Authority confirmed that no Erasmus student was faced with a €1,200 bill at a quarantine hotel. Upon clarifying the rumours with the hotel in question, the authority could confirm that the student is only paying for food and beverage as is always the case in such cases.

The MTA also revealed that it is covering the accommodation expenses in the quarantine hotel for those who followed all the procedures to enter Malta. ‘This is also done in accordance with the Legal Notice which was published, which clearly states that only those that have entered Malta with the incorrect procedure are placed in preventive quarantine, which they have to pay for themselves.’

What you may not have heard of however, is the charitable efforts being made by their sponsor Bull Europe, who have not only donated 4 premier outdoor kitchens valued at €52,000 to the show but have decided to auction them at the end of the show and donate all proceeds to charity!

Founder of Bull Europe Sandro Zammit has highlighted that half of auction earnings will go to the highest bidder’s choice and the other half will go to the charity ‘For A Reason’.

The premium BBQ company does its utmost to support charities on a daily basis by not only donating a percentage of Bull Outdoor Products’ profits to ‘For a Reason’ but also organises fundraisers to help children in Haiti.

Bringing home the family’s water supply for the day is hard work. It generally falls to the youngest capable child in the family to make the journey to the water source each day.

90% of Malta’s current COVID-19 cases are from unvaccinated individuals

During a video conference addressed by Deputy Prime Minister & Health Minister Chris Fearne from his home, it was revealed that around 15% of the current COVID-19 cases are Maltese while the other 85% is made up of foreign individuals, with close to 90% of cases being unvaccinated individuals.

The Deputy Prime Minister also went on to reveal that the only COVID-19 case within Mater Dei Hospital’s Intensive Therapy Unit is unvaccinated.

Malta has recently experienced a surge in COVID-19 cases, registering more than 100 cases each day for five consecutive days, with today’s case report revealing 154 cases out of a total 782 cases.
