Malta To Face Andorra In Final UEFA Nations League Group Match

Nov 19 2024 Share

The Maltese National Team are currently completing their last bit of preparations before taking on Andorra in their final UEFA Nations League D group game.

Despite beating Moldova last time out, the Maltese don’t have a chance for automatic promotion to League C due to an inferior head to head record.

Malta’s hopes of securing the top spot in their group were dashed last Saturday when Moldovan forward Virgiliu Postolachi scored a dramatic 92nd-minute winner against Andorra, earning his team three points and guaranteeing them first place and promotion from the group.

However Malta does have a guaranteed place in the promotion playoffs, meaning the nation’s dreams of finally achieving prmotion to a higher league are not dead yet.

In a press conference, Malta’s interim coach Davide Mazzotta stated that “We are a bit sad after Saturday’s result, but the group is in harmony,” and “The dream is lost, but our aim is to finish the group with nine points, equal to Moldova.”

In his reflection, Minister Bonnici expressed deep sorrow over the ongoing situation in Gaza, highlighting the devastating impact it has on children and families. He emphasised the need for peace and a brighter future for young lives affected by conflict.

This encounter served as a poignant reminder of the resilience of children and the importance of fostering hope, even in the most challenging circumstances.

Hundreds Of People Attend PN Protest

Nov 19 2024 Share

Last night, hundreds of people protested in front of Parliament in light of the recent controversy surrounding Minister Clayton Bartolo’s wife, Amanda Muscat and her previous job within government.

An ethics investigation by the Standards Commission revealed that Muscat had received an “unjustified” salary increase as a policy consultant, a position for which she was reportedly unqualified. Subsequently, she was promoted to a more prominent role within the Gozo Ministry, earning an annual salary of €70,000.

During the protest, Nationalist leader Bernard Grech stated that a new Nationalist government would not only bring a better future for the country but also will restore the normality needed for Maltese people to move forward and progress.

Grech accused the current Labour government of losing all sense of decency, also accusing Prime Minister Robert Abela and Ministers Clayton Bartolo and Clint Camilleri of making a conscious decision to “steal money from the public.”

In a recent interview with Times of Malta, Prime Minister Robert Abela dismissed calls for the resignation of Ministers Clayton Bartolo and Clint Camilleri.

Abela stated, “The circumstances do not warrant Clayton Bartolo or Clint Camilleri stepping down from their ministerial duties.”

He further argued that the situation differed from that of Justyne Caruana, who resigned in 2020 after the Standards Commissioner found her guilty of awarding an abusive contract to her partner.
