Kaine Dimech described the camp as “building really positively,” noting the impact of new faces in the squad and the enthusiasm for growing rugby league locally.

University of Exeter captain Ben Mirchandani said his team is excited for the challenge, calling it “a great end to an excellent season.”

Team Manager Anthony Micallef praised the training camp’s structure and outcomes, saying it successfully introduced new players and set the tone for the months ahead.

In a parliamentary question, Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Security, Darren Carabott, asked Minister Byron Camilleri to clarify the current operational status of Malta’s military helicopter fleet.

Mr Carabott expressed concern that only one of the three Augusta Westland AW139 helicopters may be operational, with the remaining two out of service. He also queried whether both Alouette III helicopters are grounded, and requested details on how long each aircraft has been under maintenance.

In response, Minister Camilleri stated that the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) place the highest priority on asset maintenance, particularly for helicopters, which are more mechanically and operationally complex than other aircraft.

He emphasised that even a minor component failure can lead to serious consequences. As such, the AFM follows strict, uncompromising maintenance schedules.

Minister Camilleri confirmed that two AW139 helicopters are currently undergoing an ‘8-year inspection’ a mandatory overhaul required by the manufacturer.

Regarding the Alouette III helicopters, Minister Camilleri explained that in 2022, Airbus Helicopters informed all operators that it would be withdrawing the remaining airworthiness certificates for the model, effectively grounding them.

The coverage was welcomed by the Malta Tourism Authority, seeing it as a valuable opportunity to increase Malta’s visibility in long-haul markets.

Rather than presenting destinations in a typical tourist format, the programme explores local cultures through authentic, everyday experiences.

It showcases both iconic landmarks and lesser-known areas, offering viewers a deeper understanding of each location.

Through a narrative led by a Korean traveller, the programme presented Malta’s rich history, cultural traditions, natural scenery, and modern lifestyle. It gave South Korean audiences a window into the country’s unique character and way of life.
