Barbie Company Issues Dolls With Link To Porn Site

Barbie Company Issues Dolls With Link To Porn Site

Mattel’s new line of “Wicked” fashion dolls is flying off shelves. The dolls, designed to promote the upcoming Wicked movie, feature a misprinted website link that directs buyers to a pornographic site instead of the official film page.

This unexpected mishap has retailers like Target, Walmart, and Amazon pulling the dolls from shelves in order to prevent further sales.

Despite the PR nightmare for Mattel, the error has proved a lucrative opportunity for resellers. Some have capitalised on the mistake by selling the misprinted dolls on platforms like eBay for as much as $2,100, far above the original retail price.

In response to the scandal, Mattel has advised parents to either discard the packaging or cover up the offending link. The company is working to resolve the issue and prevent any further distribution of the misprinted dolls.

Over 2,100 Pre-1995 Renters Supported Through Subsidies

Over 2,100 Pre-1995 Renters Supported Through Subsidies

Minister for Social and Affordable Housing, Roderick Galdes, recently discussed reforms to pre-1995 rental agreements in a press briefing.

Galdes said that the government has tackled a long-standing issue affecting many landlords and tenants with outdated rental contracts.

“Today, we are seeing the positive outcomes of historic amendments we introduced to address pre-1995 rentals. We acted in time so that landlords could receive fairer rents while ensuring that tenants weren’t displaced from homes where many of them raised families,” he said.

Galdes outlined how the government attempted to strike a careful balance between the rights of landlords and tenants. He reported that the Housing Authority has supported over 2,141 individuals through rent subsidies for pre-1995 rentals, allowing them to stay in their homes without facing unaffordable rent hikes.

This subsidy program reflects the government’s commitment to meaningful social policies, bringing stability to thousands of families, continued Galdes.

‘In 2023 alone, nearly €7 million has been allocated for these subsidies. The Housing Authority has also provided free legal aid to tenants in pre-1995 rentals, assisting 694 tenants last year and 584 so far this year.’
