New data from Eurofound highlights significant disparities in minimum wages across Europe, with Malta ranking among the lowest.
These statistics show that while most EU countries have experienced real wage growth due to minimum wages rising faster than inflation, Malta has not followed this trend.
Between December 2023 and December 2024, annual inflation stood at 1.8%. Despite this, Malta’s minimum wage remains comparatively low, standing at €961 per month as of January 2025.
In contrast, the Netherlands (€2,070), Slovenia (€1,358), and Luxembourg (€2,571) offer significantly higher wages.
Malta is classified under “Group 3: Below €1,000,” alongside countries such as Croatia (€970), Greece (€968), Estonia (€886), Czechia (€826), Slovakia (€816), and Romania (€814).
