Malta ranked first in Europe in this WEIRD statistic revealed by Pornhub

Dec 21 2021 Share

With 2021 finally coming to a close, media brands around the world have been posting their annual ‘Year in Review’ videos & data with everyone from Spotify to Bolt partaking in what has become a yearly tradition. Amongst other sites, Pornhub posted their 8th Year in Review, with Malta ranking 1st in a particularly peculiar statistic.

The adult website’s recap provided multiple colourful infographics with data compiled by in-house statisticians about the world’s consumption of that which the website provides. The article read that the adult content site’s top searches are influenced by pop culture and worldwide events and Malta’s mention may be proof of that.

When discussing particular events causing the site major traffic changes, Malta showed the biggest traffic drop in the world during the Eurovision 2021 finale with a whopping 34 per cent drop compared to the average day, with Iceland coming in second with a drop of 30 per cent. That just goes to show how seriously we take our Eurovision.

What do you make of this?

The project is helmed by local chef Daniel Borg Cardona, a familiar name to foodies across the island for his various popular projects such as Wagyu Bar & Kitchen and Burgers.Ink, amongst others. His latest foray into Asian hospitality is set to serve a number of Japanese delicacies, with a dessert which is unforgettable to say the least.

As shared on a recent social media, Daniel gave a glimpse of one of Komaki’s desserts Scorpion Forest, a unique dessert which is garnished with actual scorpions. The dish created by Komaki head chef Zoran is amongst other striking plates on the Tapas & Whiskey Bar’s menu, which will also include ants in some dishes.

In light of recent challenges from French MEPs with regards to her previous anti-abortion voting record, Nationalist MEP Roberta Metsola has notified other MEPs from major groups within the European Parliament that if she is elected president of the House, she will be representing the ‘majority voice’ on the current abortion issue.

Metsold told MaltaToday that as President of the Parliament, her duty is to represent the Parliament’s views, be it pro-choice or pro-life. Recently, French MEPs and members of the press persisted in their stance on the Maltese MEP’s track record on votes regarding gender equality and reproductive rights.

Back in June, Maltese MEPs together with fellow European members voted on the Matic report, which called for universal access to safe and legal abortion in the EU. Metsola, along with Nationalist MEP David Casa and Labour MEP Alex Agius voted against the report while Labour MEP Cyrus Engerer voted in favour and fellow Labour MEPs Alfred Sant and Josianne Cutajar abstained.

Earlier today, Puttinu Cares broke the news of the passing of Jake, a caring young soul who would brighten up the day of anyone he came across.

In a recent social media post, Puttin Cares wrote ‘Jake taught us how to be humble, how to never stop fighting in the face of adversity, how to wake up everyday with the passion to live and how to share everything you have because that’s how you find happiness.’ The touching social media message went on to state how Jake truly taught them what love is and went on to mention Jake’s parents Jeanelle and Kevin for their love and persistence to do the impossible to see Jake peaceful.

During the holiday period, which Jake loved, he would distribute sweets to everyone around him and brighten up their day.

Malta Daily extends its condolences to the young soul’s family & friends.

May you rest in eternal peace Jake.
