56-Year Old Man Loses His Life After Accident In Swieqi

In the early hours of this morning, at approximately 0300hrs, authorities were alerted to a traffic accident on Triq is-Swieqi in Swieqi. Initial assessments revealed that a 56-year-old man from Zebbug, driving a Toyota Vitz, collided with residential structures along the road.

Shortly after the incident, responders from the Department of Civil Protection and a medical team arrived at the scene. The driver was swiftly transported to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, but tragically, he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

The Police Magistrate, Dr. Ian Farrugia LL.D, was notified of the incident and has initiated an inquiry, while the police continue their investigation into the matter.

If you haven’t already started, this weekend will give you the perfect opportunity to start hitting the beach as the weather forecasts some very sunny days ahead!

According to the Meteorological Office, this weekend is set to bring three days of sunshine (starting Friday) with temperatures feeling as hot as 24°C.

Facebook weather page ‘It-Temp Madwarna’ also corroborated a similar forecast, having, earlier this week, reported how a new heat record for April was reached on the 1st of this month at a whopping 31.8°C.

In fact, St Paul’s Bay registered a whopping 34.6°C due to, namely, a lack of wind which reduces heat through cool sea currents, as well as very low humidity.
