Yesterday, Malta joyously marked the 49th anniversary of Republic Day, commemorating the pivotal moment when our nation revised its constitution, transforming into a Republic.

In honour of the 49th Republic Day anniversary, a ceremonial parade unfolded in St. George’s Square, Valletta, orchestrated by the Armed Forces of Malta. Dignitaries of the highest order graced the occasion, including President Dr. George Vella, Prime Minister Dr. Robert Abela, and Opposition Leader Dr. Bernard Grech, alongside other distinguished guests.

The ceremonial parade, a testament to national pride, unfolded with precision on the Palace Square. President George Vella, at the forefront, took the salute, symbolising the unity and sovereignty of Malta on this historic occasion.

In a recent match against the current under-19 Italian league leaders, Roma, Lexine’s impact was evident as the game concluded in a thrilling 2-2 draw. Sampdoria currently holds the 10th position in the league with 7 points.

Beloved actor Andre Braugher, renowned for his iconic roles as Captain Raymond Holt in “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and Detective Frank Pembleton in “Homicide: Life on the Street,” passed away at the age of 61 on Monday, succumbing to a brief illness as confirmed by his publicist.

Braugher, with his unmistakable deep voice, first gained fame on the NBC drama “Homicide: Life on the Street” from 1992 to 1998. His outstanding portrayal of the tenacious Detective Frank Pembleton earned him an Emmy in 1998.

However, it was his deadpan performance as Captain Raymond Holt in the hit comedy “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” that truly catapulted him to widespread recognition. Over eight seasons alongside Andy Samberg, Braugher’s depiction of the precinct’s no-nonsense, Black, and gay boss garnered him two Critics Choice Awards for best supporting actor in a comedy series and earned him four Emmy nominations.

Throughout his career, Braugher showcased his versatility, often taking on roles as a police officer in both dramatic and comedic settings. Born in Chicago, he graduated from Stanford University before pursuing drama at The Juilliard School.

His legacy includes an impressive 11 Emmy Award nominations, with four attributed to his role as Captain Raymond Holt in “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” Andre Braugher leaves behind a lasting impact on the entertainment industry, remembered for his exceptional talent and contributions to both drama and comedy.
