The Malta International Airport has revealed that 75,420 travelled through it throughout the month of May, the first month to surpass the 40,000 passenger mark as the tourism and travel sector re-opening approached.
The total for May traffic translates into a drop of 88.8 per cent compared to May 2019 but registered an improvement over the first four months of 2021, where the passenger numbers remained well below the 40,000 mark.
The MIA reported that Malta’s top markets for May were Italy, Germany, France, Poland and Turkey, triggered by the relaxation of certain travel measures from Malta’s end.
