Malta gets A+ rating from global agency, economy expected to bounce back in 2021

Dec 5 2020 Share

American credit rating agency ‘Fitch Ratings’ has given Malta’s economy an A+ rating despite the worse-than-expected tourist season, which is a substantial contributor to the local economy.

Fitch Ratings predict a -7.7 percent drop in GDP, as opposed to the 6.9 percent it had expected back in July and the European Commission’s -7.3 percent forecast.

The company also expects a heavy economic bounce-back for Malta in 2021 with a 5.4 percent forecast for 2021.

Napoli have officially named their local stadium as ‘Diego Armando Maradona Stadium’ after the death of the legendary football player with the same name.

Formerly named ‘San Paolo’, the stadium’s name will be changed following a unanimous approval from the Naples City Council to honour the life of the player who brought the club two Serie A titles and various prestigious honours during his tenure with S.S.C. Napoli.

A governmental statement went on to say that Maradona is “the greatest footballer of all time”, illustrating the city’s respect for the player.

Dec 5 2020 Share

With tough times being the headline of 2020 we went the extra mile in collaboration with GO to give you a Christmas advert that is meant to warm your hearts.

We wanted to remind everyone that the Maltese population will not lose faith that better times will come. As a population we’re known for being persistent and resourceful. This Christmas, stay safe and find ways around spending time with your loved ones.

Whether it’s setting up laptops, or devices at the table while you eat or spending an hour or two unwrapping presents over a call, we’ll all find a way to spend time with our loved ones, even though for most of us that time is virtual.

We went one step further and wanted to remind everyone as well, that better times are coming!

Here’s to hoping that next Christmas will be celebrated under better circumstances and here’s to making the best out of an unattractive situation.
