Malta’s hopes for increased tourism have been shattered after failing to place on the UK’s green list once again as no countries were added.
This means that travellers who leave Malta towards the UK must quarantine, according to a BBC report.
UK Newspaper The Independent has also stated that, despite rumours of certain Greek islands, the Canaries and Malta being top contenders for the list, it remains as is, with the red list expected to expand.

The UK government has announced that three out of four British adults have been vaccinated with at least one dose, with The Department of Health reporting that 75.2% of over 18s have received at least one shot and 49.5% being fully vaccinated.
The UK is currently battling what is being called a ‘third wave’ with the new Indian variant accounting for the majority of the country’s new cases.
On 1 June, the country registered zero new daily COVID-19 deaths for the first time since 30 July 2020.

Malta has registered 4 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,799 swab tests, while 4 patients have recovered. No deaths were registered in the past 24 hours. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Maltaās Ministry for Health.
As of Thursday 3rd June 2021, 534,639 vaccine doses were administered of which 322,359 were 1st doses. 221,595 people are currently fully vaccinated.
To date, Malta has registered 30,557 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 30,062 have recovered, 419 died and 76 are still active.
