Despite being expected to be on England’s list of countries allowing travel without requiring quarantine on return, Malta has failed to make the list of 12 destinations.
UK transport Secretary Grant Shapps revealed the ‘green list’ on Friday evening, in which list one would find Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Brunei, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Falkland Islands and Israel.
Malta has been rated as ‘amber’ in the UK’s COVID-risk factor according to British media outlets, which means that arrivals must self-isolate for 10 days or less if they test negative for COVID-19 after five days.
Malta currently has one of the highest vaccination rates in the world, with other countries like Germany declaring the island as a no-risk area for the COVID-19 virus.
