The Embassy of Malta in the United States marked Malta’s 50th Anniversary as a Republic with a celebration of Maltese music, culture, and talent.
A special concert was organised at the prestigious Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., the U.S. National Cultural Centre.
The event drew a full-house audience, including members of the Diplomatic Corps, representatives from the Mayor’s Office of the District of Columbia, State Department officials, Maltese citizens from across the U.S., and other distinguished guests.
The concert featured performances by Maltese artists Davinia Pace, Pamela Cibrano, Kristian Schembri, and Aiveen Gallagher-Schembri.
The program showcased a diverse repertoire, including works by Maltese composers, well-known opera pieces, and an original composition inspired by Maltese elements and traditional poetry.
For the first time, the Maltese language and a medley of traditional Maltese band marches were performed within the Kennedy Center, leaving attendees in awe of the unique cultural showcase.
Ambassador Xuereb expressed gratitude to the Kennedy Center for hosting the event, as well as to the artists who brought Maltese talent to the U.S. capital.
The Embassy also thanked members of the Maltese diaspora who attended or tuned in online, making this year’s Malta Day Concert a historic and groundbreaking celebration of Maltese heritage.
