At around 11pm last night, Malta’s Civil Protection Department was called to respond to a fire that had broken out at Wied Fulija, Zurrieq. The situation was brought under control, thanks to the CPD’s prompt intervention.
Minister for Environment, Energy, and Regeneration of the Grand Harbour, Miriam Dalli, provided an update of the situation on Facebook, expressing her gratitude for the immediate assistance from the authorities. She noted that it is still too early for officials to determine the cause of the fire, but reassured the public that the situation is now stable.
In her post, Dalli also thanked the enforcement authorities for their quick response and support, explaining that WasteServ will be undertaking immediate efforts to rehabilitate the affected area to mitigate any environmental impact and restore the site.
Meanwhile, Minister for Home Affairs, Security, and Employment Byron Camilleri took to Instagram to highlight the Civil Protection Department’s efforts on Friday, who also controlled the massive shipyard blaze seen suffocating Malta’s skies yesterday afternoon.
