Malta Carnival 2025, organised by Festivals Malta, took place between 28th February and 4th March, attracting thousands of visitors from across the Maltese Islands and beyond.
The event delivered a spectacular celebration of colour, creativity, and tradition.
This year’s Carnival saw a rise in artistic quality, with remarkable improvements in dance, costumes, and papier-mâché floats. The event would not be possible without the dedication of participants who work tirelessly year-round to keep this vibrant tradition alive.
Minister for National Heritage, the Arts, and Local Government, Owen Bonnici, thanked artists, volunteers, and contributors for making the event a success.
He highlighted the Carnival’s continued growth in quality and reach, with 42 local councils benefiting from a special government fund. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding support for the Carnival and its artists.
Festivals Malta Chairperson, Aaron Zahra, noted the overwhelming turnout, especially in Valletta. He looked forward to the upcoming Arts and Culture Centre in Marsa, which will benefit Carnival artists.
CEO Frans Agius and Artistic Director Jason Busuttil praised the high level of this year’s Carnival, emphasising its promising future.
