Malta and the UK have initiated bilateral talks on creating a digital vaccine certificate which will, according to Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo, not be limited by EU negotiations. The minister revealed that the certificate was already in development by the Malta Information Technology Agency (MITA) and is aimed for release by June alongside tourism reopening.

Bartolo stated that in discussions with the UK government, that information about the digital certificate and its components are already being exchanged. The Minister has already emphasised the importance of the UK in jumpstarting the economy through tourism post-COVID-19. The passport’s standard QR code, and data stating reception of vaccine doses will allow safe travel between the two countries.

A video making rounds on social media shows a crash that has allegedly taken place between a yellow Mercedes-AMG GT and a police car, leading to a traffic congestion. The video shows the bumper-to-bumper collision which occurred on St Andrew’s Street in Swieqi, with what seems to be the car owner and police officer inspecting the damage done to the vehicles.

The police car seems to have received quite the damage as a crumpled bonnet behind the yellow Mercedes is evident in the video. The reason for the incident is as of yet unknown but the Mercedes-AMG GT value is known to shoot upwards of €100,000. The Malta Police Force seems to be in for quite a bill.

Għajjejt u Xbajt: An Introduction

Apr 13 2021 Share

Għajjejt u Xbajt was born from both frustration and hope. As we looked around in our everyday lives, we noticed such a lack of effective discourse happening between people. Many topics surrounding feminism and equality weren’t being talked about, or were at best fuelling fights riddled with empty insults. The aim was to create a safe space, within which no topic would be negatively judged or shamed, and where we could act as moderators to healthy debates, discussions and sharing of ideas. It is a sex-positive, intersectional, pro-choice and actively anti-racist space.

We do not claim to have all the answers, but we are very invested in posing the questions, sharing resources, and doing our own small part in working towards a more progressive and inclusive world.

Għajjejt u Xbajt is Malta Daily’s first-ever editorial guest focusing on feminism and equality and will be coming to your screens very soon.
