'Maduma, Tinkisirx' - Moment Rodney/Maduma Falls On Stage

It’s only the first episode of Masked Singer Malta and we already have our very first meme-able moment – all thanks to Valentina Rossi.

As Maduma, who we later discovered was none other than Rodney Gauci underneath the costume, showed off his pretty slick moonwalk, the costumed performer slipped on stage, prompting the immediate response by Rossi:

“Maduma, tinkisirx!”

Rodney later made light of the situation during his reveal, saying that the experience on the show was one which lifts you up and ‘slams you down’ – referring of course to the little mishap.

Did you guess it was Rodney?

As the first episode of ‘The Masked Singer Malta’ kicked off yesterday evening, the local celebrities took to the stage in disguise in order for the panel of detectives to guess who they were.

What was notable about the costumes however was that they all highlighted some aspect of Maltese culture – whether it be the traditional Maltese gallarija (balcony), the national bird (Merill) or plant (Widnet il-Baħar), or even something as simple as traditional tiles (maduma).

The first episode saw Maduma being revealed as Rodney Gauci, who performed a rendition of ‘My Way’ by Frank Sinatra.

Did you guess right?

Apr 24 2025 Share

Two Maltese journalists, Neil Camilleri and Giuseppe Attard, are currently filming a documentary alongside a frontline medical evacuation team from Благодійний Фонд MOAS-Україна (MOAS Ukraine), documenting the harrowing efforts of medics as they rescue critically injured Ukrainian soldiers from the heart of the Zaporizhzhia frontline.

The medical team works in high-risk conditions, racing against time to stabilize and evacuate wounded soldiers under the constant threat of shelling and gunfire. Camilleri and Attard’s footage provides a rare and emotional look at the reality of war.

The documentary is being produced in collaboration with MOAS Ukraine and MOAS EU, and will premiere on May 5.
