A Lufthansa aircraft which departed Malta on Tuesday night had to conduct an emergency landing in Palermo due to a discrepancy in one of the engines.
The flight departed the Luqa airport on Tuesday evening being Frankfurt bound. However, the pilots diverted to Palermo’s Falcone & Borsellino Airport in Sicily just after a few minutes.
Pilots requested the emergency landing after an unspecified discrepancy was identified in one of the aircraft’s two engines. Flight LH1311 landed in Palermo at 2010hrs, and no incidents or critical issues among the passengers were reported.
Passengers were flown to their destination via a replacement aircraft. The incident was also reported in the Sicilian regional newspaper La Sicilia.
