EU President Roberta Metsola released an advert in Love Island Malta style, urging people to go vote this upcoming election on June 8th.

The advert is a simple Love Island aesthetic urge to vote, with the EU president stating ‘Love Our Islands.’
The ad was aired during last night’s episode of Love Island on TVM as part of Broadcasting Authority political adverts, in relation to Saturday’s MEP election.

85-year-old Lucille Terry is pursuing her fourth university degree, this time in religious studies, philosophy, and ethics with The Open University.
Despite being retired, she refuses to be idle, stating, “I can’t just sit around, do nothing and watch television all the time.” Terry emphasises that academic success doesn’t necessitate innate brilliance, saying, “You don’t have to be brilliant to do it.”
She was honoured in a ceremony at her parish church, where she received recognition for her dedication to learning. The pro-vice chancellor of The Open University praised her as a beacon of inspiration, showing that dedication and perseverance can overcome any obstacle.
Terry hopes her academic pursuits will motivate others, especially older individuals, to challenge themselves intellectually.
She believes in the cognitive benefits of continuous learning, stating, “If I have a day when I’m not studying, on the day that I do study I feel better, and that’s something people aren’t aware of. It can really do good for their brain.”

Is-Servizz Pubbliku took to social media to share an old photo from all the way back to the 1960s of Clean Malta workers.
The workers, here shown in black and white, can be seen in front of the Central Bank with the old Valletta lift in the background.
Servizz Pubbliku urged anyone with knowledge of who worked in the Cleansing department to track down the workers so that they can reminisce about their old job and legacy.

On Monday 3rd June, 53 recruits from Recruitment Intake 241 successfully completed their basic military training.
Starting as a cohort of 80 recruits, who enlisted on 22nd January 2024, they all went through a rigorous selection process.
‘Throughout their training, recruits were immersed in military life, receiving instruction in physical fitness, weapons handling, drill, and other essential military skills. After 19 weeks of training, 53 recruits, including 8 females, successfully finished their training and participated in the Passing Out Parade.’
‘This celebrated occasion, steeped in military tradition, signifies the transformation from recruit to soldier in the presence of distinguished guests and family. Held at the Ħal Luqa barracks, the recruits, formed into squads, saluted and marched past dignitaries with their instructors and Training School personnel in slow and quick time.’
‘During the parade, Recruit Sujak Darko was honoured as the best recruit and congratulated by the Commander of the Armed Forces of Malta.’
‘These newly minted soldiers will now join various units of the AFM, ready to serve on land, at sea, or in the air.’
