Love Island to Malta: Joel Corry appears on hit show ahead of Café Del Mar performance

This Sunday, world-famous DJ and television personality Joel Corry is set to put on a DJ performance at Café Del Mar Malta but before that, he paid Love Island’s 2022 islanders a surprise visit.

In a recent episode of the hit television show, the islanders entered a VIP Club to find the internationally-renowned Geordie Shore star-turned-DJ, where he performed some of his chart-topping bangers to a crowd of some of the UK’s most trending TV stars.

Joel Corry’s Café Del Mar Special forms part of Malta Music Week, which kicked off with Tuesday’s spectacular Isle of MTV concert at Il-Fosos Square in Floriana and also Ella Eyre at G7 Fridays tomorrow.

13 of Malta’s biggest businesses have joined forces to fight for carbon neutrality

Thirteen of Malta’s largest business have held a press conference to announce that they have banded together to create the Malta ESG Alliance (MESGA).

Alberta Group, APS Bank Plc, AX Group Plc, Bank of Valletta Plc, GO Plc, HSBC Bank Malta Plc, International Hotel Investments Plc, Malta Public Transport Services (Operations) Ltd, MAPFRE Malta, MEDSERV Operations Ltd, Melita Ltd, PG Group Plc and Toly Products Ltd. have joined forces to prioritise decarbonisation and tackle local Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues.

The conference began with the hard-hitting introductory statement that “looking after the planet is not negotiable,” before going on to lay down the plan of action.

The founding members of the alliance have already received support from consultancy firm EY Malta, Perit David Xuereb and the Malta Ambassador for Climate Action, Professor Simone Borg.

Their goal is to increase members, expand towards further economic industries and ultimately inspire change through their actions.

Cheaper Netflix plans will not include all shows, CEO reveals

Netflix ad-support tier will not allow users to access all of their shows, due to a number licensing issues.

The streaming platform’s partnership with Microsoft to provide ad-supported tiers at lower prices will not offer access to the Netflix’s entire library. Co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos sustained that while Netflix Originals such as Stranger Things and Umbrella Academy will be available, a number of third-party films and series will not due to licensing.

“Today, the vast majority of what people watch on Netflix, we can include in the ad-supported tier,” Sarandos said. This comes after Netflix lost close to one million subscribers as it continues to come under fire for clamping down on password sharing and increasing subscription prices.

Animal shelter calling for urgent financial help as storm risks harming animals’ lives

Non-governmental animal activist organisation MSPCA are calling for financial assistance as a storm coming to Malta soon may risk the lives of many helpless animals.

A recent post published by the local animal shelters read: “The MSPCA is attempting to improve their facility in the hope that funds raised will help towards facing this storm head on.”

The organisation has stated that an oncoming storm may put many animals in danger and thus, is raising funds to accomodate even more animals in new parts of their building.

Anyone who wishes to contribute can do so by visiting their website or donating via BOV pay and will ultimately help in financing new tiles, fans and light fittings, in addition to new tanks and pumps for their water supply.
