Loewe World’s Hottest Brand According To Q2

Jul 25 2024 Share

LVMH-owned Loewe has surged to the top spot in the latest Lyst Index, surpassing Miu Miu. Key drivers of this success include Loewe’s collaboration with the running brand On, which produced the highly popular Cloudtilt 2.0 sneakers, now the quarter’s hottest product. Loewe’s appeal was further boosted by its brand spot featuring actors Dan Levy and Aubrey Plaza, and its costumes for the movie “Challengers,” designed by creative director Jonathan Anderson.

Lyst highlighted that “these activations fuel desire for the product,” noting a 29% increase in searches driven by the popularity of Loewe’s basket bags and anagram tank tops over the past three months.

Prada and Miu Miu, previously jockeying for the top spots, saw shifts in their rankings. Miu Miu retained second place, while Prada fell to third. Saint Laurent climbed to fourth place, and Bottega Veneta dropped to fifth. Jacquemus rose to eighth, benefiting from its “Le Mariage” wedding campaign and “Les Rayures” summer capsule collection.

Gucci, Balenciaga, Versace, and Skims each advanced one spot, with Skims experiencing a 32% increase in searches, driven by new store openings and a swimwear line launch. Coach also saw a 27% rise in searches due to its blend of heritage appeal and trendy designs.

Dragon Diffusion’s leather accessories, especially the Dragon Diffusion Tote bag, and the Adidas SL72 OG sneakers were also among the hottest products. Searches for Paris-based Casablanca’s retro tennis-inspired crochet knit shirt surged 161%, making it the fourth hottest product, with overall searches for the brand up 64%.

Lyst’s quarterly reports, which rank fashion’s top 20 brands and products based on various data points including social media mentions and consumer behavior, have been tracking these trends since 2018.

Small Island, Big Swim: Neil Agius Returns For Another Record
Jul 25 2024 Share

Ultra-endurance athlete and clean seas activist Neil Agius announced a re-attempt to set a world record open water sea swim, this time around Malta, Gozo, and Comino.

Scheduled for late September, Agius plans to swim 160 km in approximately 70 hours without stopping or sleeping, covering the entire Maltese archipelago.

If successful, he will break his own record for the longest non-stop, unassisted sea swim. Last year, he had to abandon a similar attempt off Mallorca due to a jellyfish swarm.

Agius aims to raise awareness about Malta’s marine environment through this challenge. His NGO, Wave of Change, is partnering with marine clean-up experts Żibel for several initiatives, including three coastal clean-ups open to the public.

Żibel will manage marine litter to create sustainable products, emphasizing a circular approach to waste.

Training intensely, Agius swims about 10 hours four times a week, pushing his limits in Malta’s summer heat while maintaining a full-time job.

Supported by a team of 25 volunteers and professionals, he has prepared extensively for the physical and mental demands of the swim. Agius hopes to inspire community action and contribute to achieving 30% protection of Malta’s marine areas by 2030.

Inside Out 2 Becomes Biggest Animated Film Ever

Jul 25 2024 Share

Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” has become the highest-grossing animated film ever, earning $1.46 billion at the global box office and surpassing the previous record holder, “Frozen 2.”

“Inside Out 2” was released on 14 June 2024 and passed the $1 billion mark only 19 days later. In week six, the film placed 13th on the list of highest-grossing films. As the film will open in Japan on 1 August, Daniel Loria, the editorial director at Box Office Pro, predicts that the theatrical run could end with even higher numbers.

This record-breaking achievement is of great importance for cinemas, changing the emotions of the industry to joy, as it “saw a summer movie season that was being written off as a box office bust” at the time of the film’s release.
