The activists for reproductive justice state that “the total decriminalisation of abortion is discriminatory as it is cruel and it continues to cause unnecessary suffering in Malta.”

The display illustrates ‘we will not be silenced by stigma’ painted in red over a collage of black and white portraits of men and women, aimed at shedding light on the risk and danger of illegal abortions in Malta.

Malta is one of the last few countries in the world with a blanket ban on abortion.

Rare zebra calf with polka-dot pattern becomes internet famous

Rare zebra calf with polka-dot pattern becomes internet famous
Aug 20 2021 Share

The general consensus amongst zebras is a black-and-white stripe pattern, but a little calf has defied the odds and gave the pattern a twist. Born in Kenya’s Mara Reserve, the baby zebra rocks a polka-dot pattern and spotted by a group of photographers who were on the search for rhinos. Photographer Frank Liu noticed the calf which seemed to be of an entirely different species.

Named Tira by a Massai guide named, you guessed it, Antony Tira, the zebra was thought to have been captured and painted upon. But after this was proven incorrect, Tira followed the tradition of naming animals of significance after being the one to find it. The polka-dot pattern seems to have occurred due to a genetic disorder called pseudo-melanism which forces animals to display stripe pattern abnormalities.

Prison was a learning experience for Terry ta’ Bormla

Posting to Facebook, Zija TT, a.k.a Terry ta’ Bormla, revealed how her six months spent in prison were a positive and educational experience. She wrote how she was proud to have spent six months in prison, going as far to state that it was a necessary experience for her.

She continued by saying that she wishes to tell people like her who enter prison over small cases that everyone makes mistakes. Terry states that she wishes, from the bottom of her heart, that everyone who goes in learns their lesson so as not to go back to prison.

Thunderstorms could hit Malta in just two weeks

Thunderstorms could hit Malta in just two weeks
Aug 20 2021 Share

The weather over Malta is set to drastically change from scorching heatwaves to thunder and rain in a couple of weeks. As weather instability makes its way across the Mediterranean, the islands could be hit by lightning streak and rumbling thunder in two weeks’ time. Confidence in the forecast is set particularly low at 45%, mainly due to the weather’s instability changing the course of storms and other weather phenomena.

The news might be a breath of literal fresh air to many people who have had to endure, rather annoyed, the sweat inducing waves of heat. The weather for this upcoming week is still to remain mainly sunny, albeit with very reduced temperatures. Only Wednesday of next week seems to be bringing partly cloudy weather, with temperatures sticking to the low 30s.
